The Future of Everything: Why It Will Be Better
I am a techno-optimist. Designers bear the weight of solving future problems. In this article, I explore the bright future ahead, driven by emerging technologies like AI, spatial computing, and personalization, particularly in healthcare. These innovations will shape a more efficient, connected world.
AI is More Than a Companion
The bond between humans and technology has evolved, and with tools like ChatGPT, we've shifted from browsing to simply typing a prompt, opening a new dimension of imagination. AI will become an extension of humans, with its own personality. In healthcare, AI could exponentially improve patient outcomes, handling administrative work to reduce burnout and enabling medical professionals to focus on complex cases, improving long-term efficiency.
Everything is Spatial
Spatial computing is bridging the gap between the real world and the digital world. In healthcare, VR has revolutionized surgery, allowing surgeons to practice and perform operations with unparalleled precision. Telehealth is expanding access to care globally. In the future, healthcare will become more preventative, thanks to early detection systems and comprehensive health data that catch diseases early and enable widespread adoption of preventative measures.
Pre-Programmed Convenience
I prefer my cappuccino with 2% milk and two brown sugars. Soon, I won’t have to order it anymore. Facial recognition and automation will mean that I can walk into any café, and a robot will prepare my coffee, adjusting to my preferences based on real-time data. If it's cold, my coffee will be extra hot. If my sugar levels spike, it’ll automatically reduce the sugar. Technology will understand my needs before I do.
Everything Has Feedback
Personalisation, driven by data, is everywhere—from clothing to implantable devices. Consumers will have more control over their data, deciding what remains private or anonymized. In this data-driven future, healthcare, fashion, and daily routines will adapt to our real-time needs, enabling better decision-making and healthier, more efficient lifestyles.
…so, if you have stuck around until now, I appreciate you and would love to hear your comments.
